My Baby Is One

I'm still in shock that time has flown by. Addison is such a good baby. She is so sweet and is changing so much. Her looks are opposite of Lanie's...she had lots of dark brown thick hair. Lanie didn't have hair until she was 2! Addison isn't walking yet, Lanie was walking before her 1st birthday. Addison is just now eating table food. I nursed Addison for a full year, I am so proud! She's only been really sick once or twice...I think the nursing had a big part in that. She didn't have any baby food until 6 months and only a few bottles of formula (the free samples I received) It's amazing how much cheaper it is to breast feed and the bond you develop.

Oh, yeah. Addison also has the "yellow nose sydrome" , Lanie never had that...It's caused quite a ruckus among people. Hopefully she will outgrow it very soon :) If you are wondering, it's from all the yellow/orange/red baby food she eats. Her poor nose! (her feet and hands also have a jaundice look)

So I am normally on top of party planning, and if you read my previous post you saw I hadn't even started. Well I pulled it together and I am pleased with the final outcome of my baby's first party. I'm glad I went with simple decor. I was debating on doing lots of more owl touches, but it just didn't happen. My walls are very neutral and I liked the woodsy feel of the bare table. I added a few paper lanterns that I had used from Lanie's party and just a few streamers. Sometimes simple is perfect!

Darrell helped do alot of the last minutes kitchen reno's. He laid the base molding and quarter round, caulked it and started painting it. He also cut down the pantry door to fit with the new tile, finally I have a pantry door again!!! I am so excited, hey it's the little things. There are now only a few things left and the renovtion is compete. (until we start a new project of course) A new dishwasher is next on the list!

Lanie helped me alot this year and loved making the brownie pops...They were so rich but pretty easy to make, and very pretty to look at.

Addison's cake turned out pretty cute (it's an owl btw, NOT a bear ;) )

Addison ate almost her entire smash cake...by the end of it she was breathing very very slowly and her tiny tummy was pooching out! We had to take her ,while still sitting in the highchair, to the bath tub.

She got lots of great goodies!

Thank you everyone who came, we love you all :)

Playing Catch-Up!

Wow, life has been so so busy! Not a bad thing I guess, time is flying. My baby turns 1 next week and I'm still in denial. Normally, I have the party laid out and pretty much completed by this time. I am ashamed that I am not very prepared...but I'll pull it together this week.

School started Wednesday! I go to my first class Tuesday night and I'm nervous! But I have my assignment done for the first 2 weeks of my online Sociology class.

We have a few loose ends to finish around the house before Addison's party.

Checklist:
  • Paint trim

  • Sand above counter top and repaint

  • Install baseboards in kitchen

  • CLEAN UP the junk

  • Put swings/baby stuff in attic for storage

  • Paint Addison's room (ok, this can wait til after the party)

This week I made Lanie and Addison try on some fall/winter clothes to make sure the sizing is right, AND to see if I'm "missing" anything. (ha, ha ha ha...yeah I'm clothing obsessed)

I thought I'd share some outfits that I am just in LOVE with for this winter season!

This was a DEAL/STEAL!!
L'oved Baby does a "Big Find Thursday" It is random but whatever they chose that day is only $5.00! I got 2 of these romper/overalls! They are so soft and will be great for layering this fall!

I can't believe how big she is getting!

Well, off to work on Addison's party :)

A New Look For The Windows

For over a year, at least, we have had no window coverings other than dark brown curtains in the living room. The room was just so dark since we had to keep them shut for privacy all the time. I finally bit the bullet and picked up some blinds from Lowe's! The girls had a blast while I tried to pick the brand and sizes.

Every time I decide to do something like this, I always wonder what took me so long. The room looks SO much better with these blinds, and they weren't that expensive...Plus, they will last a very long time.

Hmm...now I need to get rid of the leaf or the lamp!

On an exciting note, only 92 days until our Cruise! We will be celebrating our 5 year anniversary this December. So, for the first time since our Honeymoon we will take a vacation all by ourselves!
We are going to 4 places, and 3 of them will be ports we've never seen:
Belize, Costa Maya and Isla Roatan (near Honduras). We've been to Cozumel once but we really enjoyed that port too! The ship we are taking is not even 2 years old yet, I am so so excited!

Consignment Sales...

I am so overwhelmed with kids clothes at the moment. Sometimes I wonder why I have so many. I do a twice yearly HUGE consignment sale in Greenville. Switcharoos. When I say huge, I mean massive. I don't even want to know how many peices they end up with every season. The convention center is slam packed.

What's even crazier is the amount of clothes I see women bringing in. I think I have a lot, maybe 2-3 "tubs" of clothes, which to me is ridiculous for two girls that together don't weigh over 50 lbs. These women have those dolly's, you know the things you get at Sams to load all your food on? Yeah, they have them stacked up 3 or 4 feet, and the dolly's are long...about 7 feet long. One woman had two of them! Plus a few black trash bags of stuff, that is all clothes. Shoes were seperate and so were toys!  Seeing that makes me feel a tad better. I had 114 pieces total to consign. It would have been more but thankfully I sold a lot of items online. Anyways, I tried taking a picture of my process of consigning , but I left my memory stick in my computer at work.

The presale is Thursday night so i'll probably go and buy more kids clothes that I don't really need :)

Do any of you do these huge consignment sales? If you haven't ever done one, it's really worth it. There are so many people who come to shop, and everything is tracked online, so check out Switcharoos :)
