Pinterest Project - Reclaimed Pallet Wood

Who doesn't love pinterest?

Who doesn't love pallet wood?

Combine the two and you will find something like this:

That inspires someone (me) to do this...

This was so easy to make! The hardest part was laying out the stencils

What you need:
A frame to nail the wood to. I used an old Canvas frame that I used for my Melted Crayon Art (tutorial to come soon for that as well)
Pallet Wood. We got ours from Sonny's
Nails/Screws
Screwdriver
Paint
Polyurethane (optional)
Stencils
________________________________________________
1.) Remove the pallet wood from frame and nail the pallet wood on your frame in whatever pattern you like. I liked the horizontal streamlined look for this one.

2.) Decide what you want to paint on the pallet, I used stencils and laid out my phrase.

________________________________________________
3.) Paint in the stencils and coat with a layer of the polyurethane paint to keep the wood sealed.

My Sunday

Sunday started out with a great church service and the girls loved "super church" and came home with a bag of candy each. We headed to Lowes with my IPhone "notes list" and I was on a mission! An hour later we were in the return line at Lowes because Addy decided to put 5 packs of light bulbs in our buggy and Justin and I thought that one of us needed them. No wonder we spent an extra unplanned $65.00. The employee processing the return thought it was hilarious.

Lanie decided she wanted to be my little helper and we put Addy down for her nap. Lanie cleared the vanity for me and started to get distracted so I asked her if she could "stick it out" for me...she said sure...and 5 minutes later started talking about her room being messy and asked if I'd "stick it out" with her. Smart girl, Lanie.

8 hours later we had a new and improved vanity:

Adding Before, Only picture I had :( To show the coloring...

I love when you find the perfect color for something, This color is Valspar "Ebony Field" and is THE perfect shade of dark brown/black/grey. I can picture this on the wall above a 6-7 ft. white wainscoting in my new house :) Something like this...yes...

And a new and {70% off} lamp in our breakfast area:

I got a late start on my pinterest project because it rained Saturday night, It's almost done and I will be posting it soon :)

I'm a SLACKER!

Well, this is my first post of 2012!

It has been a little over a year since I started blogging, I can't believe it! It's neat to look back now at the pictures and compare :) I will probably do A LOT of compare posts!

With Justin working up in Concord and school starting back, I just haven't had time to blog :( I've kept up with other blogs though and they are still inspiring! So what's new? Well...Justin leaves @ 5:30 a.m. every morning in order to go to the gym before he leaves for Concord. Tj and Justin opened up a new Sonny's location! It's very exciting, yet very tiring. I'm proud of them and I know they are having fun!

School started a few weeks back and I'm taking Biology. There is so much information my brain is going to explode, lol. It is neat though b/c I do remember some of these things from high school. I'm also taking Developmental Psych, and it's very interesting.

Work has been crazy, it's so different not having Justin & Tj around...I've worked with Justin for the last 7 years or so, I'm definitely having withdrawals from seeing him :(

-----------

To catch up from my Bathroom Reno..This was before, *GAG* what what I thinking?

First I painted the walls...

Then removed the old light fixture. I installed my first wall box
(is that what it's called? ha!)

I also removed the mini blinds and hung faux wood blinds to match the rest of the house
My plans are still to frame the mirror (when I have time ;) )

Love those distressed frames to the left? Luckily, about a year ago I spray painted them white, then I forgot about them and they rusted and peeled up. PERFECT!
I bleached them to get the rust off and wiped them down...

If you haven't figured out by now, I go through obsessive phases. Matilda Jane ring a bell? Well, I've discovered Organic Bloom Frames. They started as a small company (still are small) but they are so very popular now. They make these amazing frames in tons of different shapes and colors! Thanks to many of you I won an 8x8 frame from them :) (THANKS AGAIN!) Well, I've ordered several and I am seriously in LOVE! See the frames in this picture? Those are some of them :)

The 2 on the side are Mary Anne 5x7's simply in Black.
The one in the middle is a June 8x10 in Morning Grey, You can tell it has a blue hint.
I'm not sure what pictures I'll put in these...My original idea was to make prints of white brick, I still may do that...

What's Left:
  • As I mentioned before, frame the mirror with white molding
  • Fix the Tile around the bath & add trim
  • Paint cabinetry
  • Hang shelving
  • Do Pinterest ideas for decor

Ok, Until Next Time :)
Thanks for reading!

End of the semester...and a new project visual:)

I've been MIA lately because school has overtaken me. I tried to stay on schedule as much as possible, but because of our vacation I got a tad behind. So I've been catching up the last two weeks so I could finish the semester. I finished my Soc 101 class with an A (woohoo!) and my Psych 101 exam is Tuesday night. I really enjoyed these two classes and I have learned a lot from them. I'm a little sad to leave my Psych class because my teacher was just amazing (if anyone takes Psych 101 @ SCC- Take Rushton)  Getting back into school was a change; but hard work pays off!

Ok, enough about school, right? I'm off for an entire month and I plan on staying busy! Lanie and I have plans to make some special Christmas cookies next week and I've got a project up my sleeve, who knew.

Our bathroom has been the same for 4 years now, and I'm just ready for a change. We have Ralph Lauren Metallic Gold walls, Green rugs, a Dark brown bookshelf and tortoise shell accents.

*I'll add some pictures tonight*
Adding Current Pictures:
You can see my paint can on the tub-hehe

So over the next 3 weeks I plan to transform it into something a little lighter and crisper. My vision is clear in my head, but man is it hard to get it out!
Inspirations:

List of things I have to look into (so I don't forget!)
Towel Bars
Towels
Bath Rugs
Lighting Choice
Molding for Mirror

Also, I'll update with the second half of our trip soon, :)

Moving Along...

One more thing "OFF THE LIST" Horray!
Let's just say that going back and forth between Lowes and H.H. Gregg was beneficial!
I love a good deal AND clean dishes

Playing Catch-Up!

Wow, life has been so so busy! Not a bad thing I guess, time is flying. My baby turns 1 next week and I'm still in denial. Normally, I have the party laid out and pretty much completed by this time. I am ashamed that I am not very prepared...but I'll pull it together this week.

School started Wednesday! I go to my first class Tuesday night and I'm nervous! But I have my assignment done for the first 2 weeks of my online Sociology class.

We have a few loose ends to finish around the house before Addison's party.

Checklist:
  • Paint trim

  • Sand above counter top and repaint

  • Install baseboards in kitchen

  • CLEAN UP the junk

  • Put swings/baby stuff in attic for storage

  • Paint Addison's room (ok, this can wait til after the party)

This week I made Lanie and Addison try on some fall/winter clothes to make sure the sizing is right, AND to see if I'm "missing" anything. (ha, ha ha ha...yeah I'm clothing obsessed)

I thought I'd share some outfits that I am just in LOVE with for this winter season!

This was a DEAL/STEAL!!
L'oved Baby does a "Big Find Thursday" It is random but whatever they chose that day is only $5.00! I got 2 of these romper/overalls! They are so soft and will be great for layering this fall!

I can't believe how big she is getting!

Well, off to work on Addison's party :)

A New Look For The Windows

For over a year, at least, we have had no window coverings other than dark brown curtains in the living room. The room was just so dark since we had to keep them shut for privacy all the time. I finally bit the bullet and picked up some blinds from Lowe's! The girls had a blast while I tried to pick the brand and sizes.

Every time I decide to do something like this, I always wonder what took me so long. The room looks SO much better with these blinds, and they weren't that expensive...Plus, they will last a very long time.

Hmm...now I need to get rid of the leaf or the lamp!

On an exciting note, only 92 days until our Cruise! We will be celebrating our 5 year anniversary this December. So, for the first time since our Honeymoon we will take a vacation all by ourselves!
We are going to 4 places, and 3 of them will be ports we've never seen:
Belize, Costa Maya and Isla Roatan (near Honduras). We've been to Cozumel once but we really enjoyed that port too! The ship we are taking is not even 2 years old yet, I am so so excited!
